The Chartered AI Engineering Professional (CAiEP®) represents ARTiBA’s highest professional recognition for experienced AI engineering professionals. The charter signifies demonstrated technical depth, professional judgment, and sustained responsibility in the design, deployment, and oversight of AI systems, together with adherence to ARTiBA’s professional and ethical standards.
This policy defines the requirements for maintaining active CAiEP® status, the renewal process, and the consequences of non-renewal. It applies to all individuals holding an active, inactive, deactivated, or suspended CAiEP®.
CAiEP® is issued as a time-bound professional charter. Continued use of the designation requires periodic confirmation that the charterholder remains engaged in advanced AI engineering practice and professional learning appropriate to the senior and chartered nature of the credential.
Renewal is designed to confirm continued professional practice, responsibility, and learning at a level consistent with the standards of the CAiEP®.
CAiEP® renewal serves to validate ongoing professional engagement and judgment within the scope of advanced AI engineering practice, consistent with its professional expectations. Renewal is conducted under ARTiBA’s credential governance framework and is supported through a structured Declaration of Continuing Professional Practice and Learning, submitted through the myARTiBA dashboard.
ARTiBA administers CAiEP® renewal in accordance with its credentialing policies and governance standards. Decisions relating to renewal approval, deactivation, suspension, reinstatement, or cancellation of the CAiEP® are made by ARTiBA and are final.
Any material misrepresentation, omission, or failure to comply with renewal requirements may result in disciplinary action, including revocation of the charter status.
CAiEP® renewal is completed through the myARTiBA dashboard and is designed to ensure continuity of the charter status rather than reassessment of prior achievement.
CAiEP® renewal does not involve an examination or re-evaluation of foundational credentials. Renewal is supported through a formal Declaration of Continuing Professional Practice and Learning. ARTiBA may request additional documentation where required to support governance and integrity of the charter.
CAiEP® renewal follows a guided process designed to ensure clarity and continuity:
Once the renewal review is completed, the outcome is communicated via email. Upon approval, the charterholder’s active charter status is reflected in their digital credential.

The renewed CAiEP® validity period is calculated from the expiry date of the previously awarded credential, not from the date of renewal submission or approval.
CAiEP® renewal supports the integrity of the charter and its alignment with evolving AI engineering practice. Charterholder’s are responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date information within their myARTiBA profile to support a smooth renewal process and ongoing professional recognition.
