Certification Validity

The AiE® certification is valid for a period of three years from the date of award. Renewal must be completed before the end of this period for the certification to remain active and for the professional to be elevated to the Senior AiE® designation.

The Senior AiE® credential is also valid for three years and provides a progression pathway toward the CAiEP® and CAiBP®.

Senior AiE® Elevation

Upon successful renewal, every AiE®-certified professional is elevated to the Senior AiE® credential. This designation is not achieved through direct registration and is awarded exclusively to individuals who renew their AiE® credential. The Senior AiE® title reflects continued professional maturity, deeper applied capability, and sustained engagement in AI engineering practice over the certification period.

Certified candidates receive a Senior AiE® digital badge to reflect this advanced standing.

AiE Senior

Renewal Fee and Access

Renewal is completed through the candidate’s myARTiBA dashboard, where professionals can review the renewal requirements and submit the necessary information. The renewal fee is USD 200. Once the renewal fee is paid and the required information is provided, the application moves into review, and the renewal process continues through the dashboard.

Renewal Requirements

To complete the renewal cycle, AiE®-certified professionals must demonstrate that they have remained professionally engaged in relevant technical work during the three-year certification period. This may include continued involvement in AI engineering, data engineering, software or systems engineering, cloud engineering, or any comparable applied technology role. Because most real-world engineering work is governed by confidentiality, candidates are not required to provide work samples, code, project artifacts, or any proprietary material.

A brief description of current responsibilities or a general overview of the work undertaken during the certification period is sufficient to establish continuity and relevance of practice. Candidates may additionally mention non-confidential contributions such as participation in public technical discussions, open-source involvement, or other visible professional activities. All renewing candidates must also complete an ethics and professional conduct attestation confirming their alignment with ARTiBA’s principles and expectations for responsible practice.

Renewal Submission Process

Renewal is completed through the candidate dashboard, where candidates submit the required information and supporting documents. Candidates begin by accessing the renewal form and providing updated professional details, followed by the submission of evidence demonstrating continued engagement in relevant technical work. This may include summaries of responsibilities, project overviews, or other materials that substantiate active practice during the certification period. Once the documentation is uploaded, candidates complete the ethics and professional conduct attestation and proceed with the renewal fee payment as indicated on the dashboard.

All submissions undergo a review and decisions are typically communicated within seven to ten working days. Successful renewal results in the elevation to the Senior AiE® credential and the issuance of the updated certificate and digital badge.

Lapse and Reinstatement

If the AiE® certification is not renewed before its expiry date, it enters a temporarily inactive status for a grace period of ninety days. During this time, candidates may still complete the renewal process by submitting the required documentation and paying the applicable late renewal fee. After the grace period ends, the credential is considered lapsed. Candidates wishing to return to active status must then follow the reinstatement pathway, which includes submitting a reinstatement application, demonstrating continued professional practice throughout the period of lapse, and paying the reinstatement fee.

Status Condition What the Candidate Can Do Fee
Active Certification is within the 3-year validity period. Renew at any time before the expiry date. USD 200
Standard renewal fee applies.
Temporarily Inactive (Grace Period) Certification has expired, but it is still within the 90-day grace period. Complete the renewal process by submitting required information and completing payment. USD 250
Late renewal fee applies.
Lapsed Certification has passed the 90-day grace period without renewal. Apply for reinstatement, demonstrate continued professional practice, and complete reinstatement requirements. USD 300
Reinstatement fee applies.

Verification and Audit

ARTiBA may conduct verification of renewal submissions to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the information provided. Candidates are expected to retain any supporting documents, evidence of professional practice, or related materials for a minimum of three years following renewal, as these may be requested during an audit.

Any attempt to misrepresent information or submit fraudulent documentation may result in denial of renewal, revocation of the credential, or additional disciplinary action in accordance with ARTiBA’s certification policies.

Use of the Senior AiE® Credential

Once elevated, candidates may use the Senior AiE® designation in all appropriate professional settings, including résumés, online profiles, publications, proposals, and other career-related communication.

The accompanying digital badge and certificate may be displayed in accordance with ARTiBA’s badge usage and trademark guidelines, which outline proper representation of the credential and the permitted use of ARTiBA intellectual property. Adherence to these guidelines ensures clarity, consistency, and professionalism in how the credential appears across public and private platforms.

Global Access and Non-Discrimination

The renewal process is accessible to AiE®-certified professionals worldwide and is administered without discrimination based on geography, institution, employment type, or academic background.

ARTiBA remains committed to maintaining a fair and equitable process that recognizes professional capability and ongoing engagement in AI engineering, regardless of career path, industry sector, or organizational setting.

Policy Revisions

Policy Revisions

ARTiBA periodically reviews and updates its certification policies to reflect developments in AI engineering practice, advancements in technology, and evolving expectations within the profession.

Any changes to the renewal policy are published on the ARTiBA website, and candidates are notified through their dashboards or registered communication channels. Renewing candidates are expected to review policy updates to ensure continued alignment with current certification standards.
